A single-operator search
A patient acquisition search backed by ten years of Tailwind's capital advisory experience. We're looking for one profitable business — carefully, on our own timeline — to own and operate for the long haul.
Who we are
For the last decade I've spent most days on the other side of the table — helping founders think through their raises, sharpen their pitches, and figure out which investors are actually the right fit. It's been a front-row seat to what makes companies work when the numbers aren't the whole story.
What I kept noticing is that the businesses I most admired weren't the flashiest pitches or the highest valuations. They were the quieter ones — built by people who cared deeply about the work, showed up for their teams, and served their customers for years. Often for decades.
I'd like to spend the next chapter running one of them.
How we're structured
Most acquirers are running a fund of a dozen companies on a timeline written for their limited partners. Yours would be one of many. Decisions about its next chapter would be made with someone else's exit clock in mind.
We don't work that way. There's no fund. No portfolio. No committee to answer to on our end. Just an operator looking for one business to step into and run — which means, if it's yours, we're not spread across ten deals. We're focused on this one, with our own commitment tied to it.
What you can count on
The people who built this business are why it works. We're joining the team, not replacing it. Roles stay. Culture stays. Nobody loses their job because we bought the company. If we can't say that honestly about a deal, we don't do the deal.
We're not here to strip anything down or squeeze it for a quick return. The aim is a healthier, stronger business a decade from now — one that keeps doing what you set it up to do, done better. What's already working, keeps working.
Clear answers, fair terms, and follow-through. From the first conversation through years after closing, you'll always know where you stand. If we say we'll do something, we do it. If we can't, we tell you plainly and early.
Where we lean in
Fit matters to us more than category. Here's the profile we're most drawn to.
Retirement, a new chapter, a partner stepping back — we're built for owners looking for someone to carry the business forward, not tear it apart.
Employees who've been around for years and would stick around through a transition. The culture and continuity you've built are what we're joining — not disrupting.
Roughly $4M to $5M in annual revenue, consistently profitable for several years, with clean unit economics we can actually understand.
Headquartered and operating primarily in the United States. Remote or distributed teams are a plus, not a hurdle.
A proven model with predictable revenue, sticky customers, and staying power. Not a growth-at-all-costs venture — something with a real reason to exist.
A reputation earned over years of doing right by employees, customers, and the community. Reviews, referrals, and repeat business tell the story.
The path forward
Most conversations run three to six months from first call to close. We move at the pace of the conversation, not a fund clock.
A call to learn about your business, understand what you care about, and see if there's mutual interest. No pitch on our end. Anything you share stays confidential.
If the first call goes well, we come to you. We want to see the business up close, meet a few key people, and get a real feel for what you built.
We review high-level financials and ask focused questions. If we like what we see, we put a clear, fair offer in writing — no games, no gotchas.
Diligence handled with transparency: we explain what we need, why we need it, and keep you in the loop the whole way. No moving goalposts, no surprises.
A careful handover shaped around your goals. We support your team, uphold your customer and vendor relationships, and make the transition feel like a natural continuation.
First call to close: usually three to six months.
